Keep it Casual: How to Dress Comfortable Without Sacrificing Style

Fashion is what you buy. Style is what you do with it. Don’t you agree? Those that concur typically also believed the definition of “great style” varies with the situation and the person. Let’s admit it. There are very few people who can take a basic t-shirt or an ordinary pair of pants and fit it to the latest fashion trends without sacrificing their individual style. So, how do they do it? Well, as the old saying goes, “where there’s a will, there’s a way.” Here are our recommend tips to elevate your casual wardrobe with style.

1. Don’t Overthink It!

Yes, style has some strategy to it, but it doesn’t mean that you have to overthink it. Although simplicity is sometimes elusive in fashion, knowing how to compliment intricate patterns with basic items of clothing can really create an eye-catching look. For example, take the button-down plaid top that we love to wear during the cooler months. For most of us, plaid is not always the easiest thing to style.  It’s a challenge to pair with other items because the pattern can become a little overwhelming. Just take a deep breath—we feel your frustration. Here’s a little secret: “When in doubt, grab the jeans.” That’s right! Jeans are a lifesaver when it comes to keeping your look casual cool. Although denim can come in different colors, black or dark navy jeans create a winning look when styled with button-down shirts or tees. Just add cute booties or stylish sneakers to complete your look, and voilà—you’re casual chic. So, don’t overthink it! Let your jeans put an end to your madness.

2. Think Comfortable

Since 2015, we started to see fashion transitioning towards more relaxed styles. And now, some businesses are even adopting a more casual dress code; suits and ties are no longer – mandatory in the workplace. When you feel comfortable in your clothes, you’re more able to relax and take on the day, no matter how long those work meetings can be. Besides, who wants to be uptight in a suit all day long? Loosen up and embrace comfortable style. Sweatshirts have always been considered athleisure, but they can also be dressed up for casual style. For men, wearing a corduroy sweatshirt with denim jeans will do the trick. The texture of corduroy has a clear definition of style already, so it’s easy to spruce up. For instance, if you want to keep it dressy casual, grab a nice pair of Steve Madden shoes to finish the look. Or,  throw on sneakers or boots to keep things simple. Remember, the key to the best outfit choices combines comfort and style.

3. Be YOU!

Everyone is different, and the individual uniquely defines style. Without a doubt, being yourself gives so much more definition to your look than any stylist can provide. That’s right! Personality boosts confidence and creates a unique flair to your look. For instance, if you‘re that girl that always wears leggings (even though everyone says you shouldn’t), your confidence alone will prove them wrong. I mean really, who is better pulling off the leggings trend than YOU! To sum it up, personality speaks through the clothes you wear and enhances your style.
